Metz debuts allergen-free concept and more this fall

The foodservice provider’s Adventure Awaits platform has plenty in store for college students.

As higher ed campuses welcome back students for fall, Metz Culinary Management aims to add excitement with some new features on the foodservice front.

The dining provider is debuting its Adventure Awaits platform, a range of new offerings to spice up dining this school year.

As part of the initiative, it’s rolling out Welcome Back Day, a one-day event showcasing a variety of global dishes alongside traditional American picnic foods such as hamburgers and chicken salad. The global dishes, were developed by chefs Ron DeSantis and Ming Tsai, are inspired by three continents. Entrees include Jamaican jerk pork, tikka masala and Hawaiian chicken.

In addition, Metz is launching allergen-free concept Pure Simple at Newberry College in Newberry, S.C. Pure Simple menus options without the top nine allergens: eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, fish, shellfish, dairy, soy and wheat.

The foodservice provider is also debuting its Elite Ingredient of the Month, a program developed by a registered dietitian that spotlights a new functional food and its health benefits each month.

“Metz’s goal for our Higher Ed partners is to explore globally inspired foods that encompass the spices and flavors of the world while providing diners with enticing menu options that they love,” Ed Knacke, Metz’s division executive chef for higher ed and independent schools, said in a press release. “As we return to school, we want to engage our guests with menus that are tasty, nutritious and healthful.”

The company is also bringing back its food truck-inspired Street Eats pop-ups, which highlight a different type of cuisine monthly. Past pop-ups have centered around quesadillas, noodle bowls and more.
