Reality TV has spawned some pretty offbeat stuff, but none more bizarre than Hurl, a “game show” broadcast by cable/satellite channel G4 in which contestants vie to see who can go the longest without vomiting.

In the contest, the participants first have to gorge themselves on some dish chosen for the particular program in a kind of “competitive eating” elimination round (only the top three make it). Those that make the cut then have to perform various physical activities (which often involve being spun around). The event continues, alternating eating and “extreme” physical activity, until only one contestant has failed to throw up.

Chances are, the demographic that watches Hurl has little in common with the one that regularly tunes in to the Food Channel. On the other hand, fans of Jackass and Fear Factor are probably eating it up…
