These down times for the commercial foodservice industry are frustrating everyone, even thieves. According to a recent article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a man who held up an area Wendy's and took the cash drawer later called to complain — twice, in fact — about the pittance inside. His take? $586.

Well, he should give himself some credit instead of beating himself up over it! At least he had the sense to stick up a QSR, a category that at least has been mostly holding its own in these difficult times.

Of course, many QSRs are staying above water because of value meal pricing and dollar deals, putting fewer dollars in the register. And for a thief, that doesn't make for much of a return on investment of time, gas or bullets…
