NACUFS announces Loyal Horton winners

Awards celebrate college dining programs for their innovative ideas and program implementations in a tough year.

The National Association of College & University Food Services (NACUFS) has announced the winners of its 2020 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards, named after a NACUFS founder, past president and highly regarded innovator, which celebrates members for their innovative ideas and implementation of programs.

Entries were submitted by 58 member institutions across North America in six categories, including Residential Dining Concepts, Residential Dining Facility, Residential Dining-Special Event, Retail Sales-Single Concept/Multiple Concepts/Marketplace, Catering-Special Event, and Catering-Online Menu. 

 A team of six judges and a committee chair gathered in East Lansing this month to examine each entry and selected top candidates in each category. The winners for the 2020 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards are:

Residential Dining Concepts

GOLD: Hope College, Rider University, University of Ottawa

SILVER: University of North Texas

Residential Dining Facility

GOLD: Hendrix College, Michigan State University

SILVER: North Dakota State University, Rollins College

BRONZE: Savannah College of Art & Design, University of Arizona

Residential Dining-Special Event

GOLD: Hendrix College, SUNY Cortland, Virginia Tech

SILVER: University at Buffalo, University of Colorado Colorado Springs, University of Richmond

GOLD: Boston College, Hendrix College, Salisbury University

Catering-Online Menu

GOLD: California Polytechnic State University, Johnson County Community College, United States Naval Academy
