Billy D’s Fried Chicken opens unit at Wake Forest University

An outpost of Billy D’s Fried Chicken has opened on the campus of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The quick-service concept is located in the school’s Poteat Hall, where it anticipates serving 1,000 customers a day. Its Wake Forest menu includes fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, mac and cheese, waffle fries and a sauce bar.
“We started with a pop-up last year at one of the school’s main food halls and sold more than 2,500 fried chicken sandwiches in one day,” owner William Dissen said in a press release. “The dining hall food operator told me it was the most they’ve ever seen sold of one item in the dining hall’s history! It made perfect sense to explore opening a location there with Harvest Table Culinary Group, operating as Deacon Dining.”
Based on the concept’s performance at Wake Forest as well as nearby Elon University, Dissen aims to bring Billy D’s to more higher-ed campuses, according to the release.
The concept now has three locations, all of which are in North Carolina.
