This week Compass Group, which partners with foodservice operations in healthcare, college and university, B&I, K-12 schools, entertainment venues and more around the globe, launched Heritage Kitchen, new global cuisine programming, with several special events featuring collaboration from minority-owned small businesses.

The foodservice giant launched the program with the help of Food Fleet, a mobile food provider and management company. The company has over 100 Heritage Kitchen events planned at Compass Group sites where local chefs will have the opportunity to share their food. In addition, diners will be able to meet chefs, try new food and hear the stories behind recipes.

“Heritage Kitchen amplifies our collective commitment to help small and diverse partners thrive, honoring their heritage, telling their stories, strengthening local connections, and uniting people through food,” said Susie Weintraub, CEO of Envision, part of Compass Group USA, in a statement.

Here’s a look at a few different events the foodservice provider is hosting.

Chartwells Higher Education is piloting a new Heritage Kitchen concept at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. This new concept will allow different food trucks to take over a specific indoor station each week in the resident dining hall.

Meanwhile, Morrison Healthcare and Northside hospitals in Atlanta are hosting a Heritage Kitchen station takeover. The takeover will feature 6 Pack Subs, a Vietnamese street food concept and Made with Love, a soul food eatery.

CCL Hospitality at Canterbury Court will bring in special guests for Compass’ Heritage Kitchen celebration. The senior living community will welcome the owners of Taqueria El Mariachi, who will share recipes and the stories behind them with residents over dinner.

CulinArt at Norton Rose Fullbright, a law firm, will be visited by local businesses monthly. Some of these businesses are Kimichi Grill and Bazodee Street Foods. Washington International School and Maret School, both managed by CulinArt, will host Rasa, a fast-casual Indian concept.

Prudential Center, which is managed by Levy Restaurants also recently launched a season-long rotating pop-up series, which will work with Heritage Kitchen by emphasizing cultural celebration.

“Heritage Kitchen is a celebration of the rich diverse culinary tapestry in our local communities. It's a fusion of passion, tradition, and local pride plus a way for our guests to travel through their plate,” said Einav Gefen, SVP chef innovator at Restaurant Associates, and co-founder of Heritage Kitchen.
