Eadie Levy, mother of Levy Restaurants founders Mark and Larry Levy whose home recipes first helped the fledgling company achieve success, has passed away at age 92, reports the Chicago Tribune. Eadie Levy lent her culinary skills to her sons' initial restaurant enterprise, the DB Kaplan's Deli in downtown Chicago's Water Tower Place, in the mid-70s. "Within two weeks of her being there the food went from being barely acceptable to being a big hit," Larry Levy told the Tribune.

She went on to lend recipes and work as hostess in a number of other early Levy ventures. Today, Levy Restaurants is a unit of Compass Group North America and one of the industry's leading providers of high-end catering and concessions services to the sports and entertainment segment.
