ELEVATING THE FAMILIAR
In an effort to keep things fresh in senior living, I often like to apply seasonal ingredients to a theme. This past Christmas, we kicked up versions of Santa’s milk and cookies as a dessert option. We served two soft gingerbread cookies filled with toasted marshmallow cream and accompanied the plate with vanilla-infused milk. The cookies were garnished with candied cranberries to give them a festive look for the holiday. It was a simple, fun dessert with hints of nostalgia that my residents really appreciated. And the name added to the appeal.
