GETTING A PIECE OF THE ACTION

We recently added a brunch bar that has been a tremendous hit with students in all grade levels. Breakfast for lunch is cool—it was when I was a kid and still is with today’s students. The bar comes with a choice of a Western omelet, Southern-style biscuits and gravy or a fresh fruit yogurt parfait layered with housemade granola. Students also can add cheese grits made with local milk and sharp cheddar cheese, sausage patties, potatoes O’Brien, assorted fresh fruit and carrot sticks. New options are currently in development, including a French toast station and a cheese grits bar. We set up our cafeterias to resemble the fast-casual restaurants our students frequent when they’re not in school, and the brunch bar fits right in.
