The U.S. Senate on Wednesday passed a stopgap government funding bill that includes almost $8 billion in nutrition assistance.

The funds would allow the USDA to extend all Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and Seamless Summer Option (SSO) meal waivers, which are due to expire at the end of December, through the end of the 2020-21 school year.

The House of Representatives approved the bill last week, and President Trump signed it into law Thursday morning.
