Senior living chefs battle against public safety officials in cooking competition

The two teams competed to see who could make the best dish using peppers.

Atria Kinghaven, a senior living community in Riverview, Mich., hosted its fourth annual Chef Showdown competition, The News-Herald reports. 

Atria Head Chef Jay Mahaffey and Sous Chef Craig Bosco competed against Riverview’s fire and police chiefs. The only rule was that each team’s dish had to contain peppers. 

The Atria chefs won the competition with their shrimp fritter served with hot pepper jelly.
