Metz Culinary Management encourages students to eat healthy through interactive tasting experiences
Students get to sample and learn about healthy foods such as red peppers and cherry tomatoes.
Metz Culinary Management is promoting healthy foods to students by offering interactive tastings at school districts throughout the country.
The tastings are led by Metz Culinary Management Nutrition Educator Madison Wurst.
During a recent tasting held at Memorial Elementary School in Bethel Park, Pa., kindergarten students sampled baby carrots, red peppers, cherry tomatoes and celery sticks. Wurst explained to the students how each of the vegetables could be eaten raw or cooked and provided handouts about the vegetables for students to take home.
Students were able to mark on worksheets whether or not they enjoyed the vegetables using smiley faces. They also had the opportunity to ask Wurst questions about the vegetables they were trying.
“The students at Memorial Elementary were very eager and excited to try the assortment of veggies,” Wurst said in a statement. “Many of them had never tried a red pepper or a cherry tomato before, so it was a new experience for them.”
