San Diego Symphony-goers get new food options

The San Diego Symphony got a new home this summer with the opening of The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, an outdoor venue boasting sea and sky views in addition to musical entertainment.

This new venue also houses The Shell Provisions, a dining program created by Frank ODea Hospitality and put together by Centerplate. It seeks to offer symphony-goers a range of local favorites including wood-fired pizza from BIGA Restaurant, tacos from taqueria Lola55 and craft coffee drinks from Achilles Coffee Roasters.

Attendees in certain sections can also purchase from a selection of picnic boxes crafted by Chef Richard Blais, which can be ordered ahead of time for delivery to a customer’s seat. 

In addition, The Shell Provisions is completely cashless, and guests can order their items via The Rady Shell’s app or at a kiosk.

"Our goal with The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park is to not only give San Diegans and visitors an unforgettable musical experience, but also a well-rounded cultural experience that reflects our city,” San Diego Symphony CEO Martha Gilmer said in a statement. “The Shell Provisions highlights cuisine San Diego is famous for, while supporting local businesses and elevating the concert-going experience.”

The symphony’s new season began on Aug. 6.
