U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson, R-S.D., has introduced the Farm and Ranch to School Act, which would provide funding for local meat procurement in schools, News Center 1 reports. 

The legislation would alter the National School Lunch Act's Farm to School Program to include funds dedicated to local meat procurement for school cafeterias. It would also provide additional educational opportunities in the classroom centered around livestock production and meat processing.
