This week, School Nutrition CEO Patti Montague made a statement about the Child Nutrition Reauthorization's status for 2020. This year, due to the focus on the 2020 election and other congressional matters, Congress is not expected to reauthorize the bill. The bill hasn't come up for a vote since the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids act was enacted in 2012. With this, some of the issues that have risen out of that act, from lunch shaming to food waste, will most likely not be tackled on a federal level in 2020. So, what does this mean for other school nutrition bills this year? Find out more.

Also, Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District introduced "Fusion Food Days" where traditional cultural meals are put together to create a new and innovative meal for the kids. Some dishes include spaghetti tacos, banh mi hot dogs, Asian spaghetti and Italian nachos. “Kids nowadays have more complex palates and they like crazier things,” said Aaron Wylie, director of child nutrition. How have kids reacted? See for yourself.
