School nutrition trending: Child Nutrition Reauthorization's status, lunch menu creativity, bistros at schools
This week, School Nutrition CEO Patti Montague made a statement about the Child Nutrition Reauthorization's status for 2020. This year, due to the focus on the 2020 election and other congressional matters, Congress is not expected to reauthorize the bill. The bill hasn't come up for a vote since the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids act was enacted in 2012. Some dishes include spaghetti tacos, banh mi hot dogs, Asian spaghetti and Italian nachos. “Kids nowadays have more complex palates and they like crazier things,” said Aaron Wylie, director of child nutrition.
