Miami Public Schools in Miami, Okla., has partnered with the Modoc Tribe of Oklahoma to begin serving locally raised bison meat for lunch, Miamiok.com reports.
The partnership was made possible through a USDA farm-to-school grant awarded to the district. Officials are just beginning to plan out how the program will work. The bison will be sourced from the tribe’s herd.
