Clark County (NV) School District is unveiling a series of menu items created for the district by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck. Twenty district students are slated to taste-test selections such as chicken chow mein and cold pasta salad on October 16 at the district’s central kitchen.

Puck, who has several restaurants in Las Vegas (Clark County includes metropolitan Las Vegas), had offered to help the district upgrade its lunch menus. He conducted surveys of district elementary students to determine their favorites, and then tried to develop healthier versions without compromising what made them appealing in the first place. District students worked with Puck’s executive chefs to create items such as garden-fresh pizza, baked chicken fingers and a “salad turkey burger” to add to the menus.
