Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, Ill., has installed micro food pantries at its main hospital and outpatient clinics, The Daily Herald reports.

Veterans can grab shelf-stable items from the pantries, such as oatmeal, rice and beans. The pantries run on donations from staff and community members.

Hines VA’s Emergency Department will also open an additional food pantry in partnership with Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine Surplus Project. The pantry will hand out microwaveable frozen meals made using unsold and untouched food from the cafeteria.
