Seattle airport opens a virtual chicken concept

Airline travelers going through Seattle now have a new dining option, and one that’s available solely through their phones.

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport has opened a new virtual restaurant, a chicken concept called Chicky. The restaurant, created in partnership with local chef Kathy Casey, uses QR code ordering, and customers pick up their meals at existing airport eatery Lucky Louie Fish Shack.

The menu at Chicky features chicken tenders with dipping sauces made in house, sandwiches, salads, cheese curds and a sticky chicken bowl.

“This is a concept we’ve been working on with Kathy Casey since the middle of the pandemic to find easy-to-access options for travelers,” Khalia Moore, SEA Airport dining and retail manager, said in a press release. “SEA is always looking for new innovative ideas to expand the customer experience at the airport.”

Ghost kitchens appear to be gaining traction in airports of late. Earlier this year, Reef Kitchens opened a virtual food hall in Raleigh-Durham International that serves food from nine different dining concepts.
