Jon Lewis, director of campus dining at Ball State University and a former president of NACUFS, died unexpectedly at his home near the college’s Muncie, Ind., campus. He was 61.

Lewis had worked in foodservice for 39 years. He was active in the industry for most of his career.

“Jon leaves a legacy for NACUFS that is difficult to match,” current NACUFS President Dawn Aubrey said in a statement. “His life exemplifies a level of professionalism and achievement that we are all lucky to witness.”

Lewis, a NACUFS member since 1987, received the 2015 Theodore W. Minah Distinguished Service Award—the organization’s highest individual honor— during the 2015 NACUFS National Conference.
