District extends curbside meal program to include weekend meals

Hardin County School District in Hardin, Tenn., has expanded its grab-and-go meal service to include weekend meals, The Courier reports.  

Starting this week, students will now be able to pick up curbside meals on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On Mondays and Wednesdays, students can pick up two days’ worth of meals. On Fridays, they can pick up three days of meals to last them over the weekend.

The district says a typical lunch meal includes a sandwich, fruit or vegetable and milk. For breakfast, students receive cereal or a similar whole-grain item, fruit juice, milk and half a cup of fruit. 

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, many school districts across the country have now switched to serving grab-and-go meals through either curbside pickup or home delivery.
