Governor signs bill repealing controversial law that required foodservice workers to keep changing food safety gloves.
June 30, 2014
California Gov. Jerry Brown has signed a bill that repeals the law that had required food and beverage handlers in the state to change gloves every time they switched tasks or touched other food, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. Going into effect in January, it was immediately criticized as expensive, wasteful and not valuable to public health. Restaurants had until June to comply with the new rules, but state lawmakers worked quickly in recent months to pass a repeal that was sent to the governor to sign.
