Healthy school meals specialist company Revolution Foods and two partnering organizations, Grocery Outlet Bargain Market and the Golden Gate Chapter of Young Presidents' Organization, plan to compile 10,000 bags filled with a variety of healthy food items in an effort to combat food insecurity in the Bay Area this summer, specifically the food insecurity that comes when children are out of school for the summer.

Volunteers from the partnering organizations will compile the food on July 16 and 17 at Alameda County Community Food Bank. The bags will then be distributed in a variety of ways to reach as many food-insecure households in the Bay Area as possible, including the summer "Children's BackPack" program a summer mobile pantry that will travel to schools and libraries to provide farm-fresh produce and healthy staples to families in-need.

Revolution Foods is one of the companies donating food to the program. Others include Annie’s Organics, Campbell, Clif Bar, Hint Water and Diamond Food.

”This project aligns perfectly with the Revolution Foods mission of building lifelong healthy eaters,” company Founder/CEO Kristin Richmond said in a statement announcing the initiative.
