Aladdin Food Management Services has acquired Dowling Food Service Management, Inc., a provider of food management services to the public and private K-12 market in New Jersey.
Philadelphia Public Schools has joined many other major and smaller school districts across the country in limiting the amount of high-fat and high-sugar snacks and beverages available to students on school grounds.
Aramark Corp. has reported record sales of $2.7 billion for the first quarter of 2005 despite the negative effects of the National Hockey League lockout, which has shuttered Aramark concessions and suite catering operations at 14 NHL arenas.
Rafi Taherian has been named executive director of Stanford University Dining Services. He had served for five years as associate director for residential dining, and was named acting executive director last June following the departure of Nadeem Siddiqui.
Correction. The recipe credit for Warm Honey-Glazed Prawn Cocktail with Candied Pear in the seafood story on p. 60 of the February issue incorrectly identified Jim Watkins of the University of Washington, Seattle as Jim Warner (Sorry, Jim!)
