Smith College plans to open a campus pub on a trial basis lasting until spring break, according to the school’s Sophian newpaper. Plans call for turning an existing television lounge in the basement of the Campus Center into an outlet that will serve beer and wine (as well as non-alcoholic beverages) along with pub food like nachos, mozzarella sticks and Buffalo wings from 9 pm to 1 am Friday and Saturday nights. The lounge will also have foosball and air hockey tables as well as some new couches and a new sound system. In order to purchase alcohol, students will need to show proof of age and be wristbanded. A public safety or a community service officer will be present while the pub is operating.
