WACONIA, MINN.
Cafe 110 is the name of the student nutrition and foodservice program at Waconia Public Schools, a district that embraces scratch cooking, farm-to-school sourcing and “smarter lunchroom” strategies, according to Barbara Schank, director of nutritional services. To create a craveable snack “that strikes all your senses,” she combined cereal squares, pretzels and peanuts with a chipotle-cinnamon seasoning. The sweet heat provides an appealing balance to the salty, crunchy ingredients.
