Sodexo has acquired Foodee, a corporate catering platform operating in 14 cities throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Through Foodee, participating companies can order meals from local restaurants for their employees. Workers can set up online profiles to track allergies, food preferences and more.

“We are excited to add Foodee’s innovative, contactless delivery option for our clients seeking to support local businesses,” David Bailey, CEO of corporate services for Sodexo North America, said in a statement. “As the workforce evolves, we believe that employees will love the convenience and variety that Foodee provides to support their dietary needs.”

Businesses have sought new ways to provide meals and other amenities to their staffs throughout the coronavirus pandemic, as working from home has remained prevalent and looks poised to continue for many.

More than 14% of employed Americans worked remotely in June as a result of the pandemic, according to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
