The Boston School Department has tossed out all bids for a new food vendor contractor and is now seeking new proposals that include more fresh salads, locally sourced options, and healthy choices, reports the Boston Globe. The School Department received three bids, from current contract holder Whitsons Culinary Group, Preferred Meals, the district's former contractor that had continued to operate its summer meal program, and Revolution Foods. The winner of the new three-year contract was supposed to start in July by managing the summer program, which will now temporarily be operated by Whitsons.
