The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) awarded $9.4 million in federal funding to eight state agencies and two school food authorities (SFA) as part of its FY 2023 Team Nutrition Grants.

This year’s winners include state department agencies in Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin. The Los Angeles County Office of Education and Weld County School District 6 in Greeley, Colo. also received grant money.

Recipients will use the 3-year grants to improve student nutrition through educational opportunities, developing recipes that fit students’ cultural backgrounds and more.

Earlier this summer, the USDA also awarded 103 grants to SFA's as part of its Patrick Leahy Farm to School Grant program
