New bill would extend 12 child nutrition waivers

A bipartisan group of lawmakers has introduced a bill that would extend all 12 child nutrition waivers introduced during the pandemic.

Under the Keeping School Meals Flexible Act, the waivers would be extended through the upcoming school year and would end on June 30, 2023. Currently, the waivers are set to expire this June.

The School Nutrition Association (SNA) has been advocating for an extension of the waivers, saying that they are essential to keeping school meal programs running and kids fed as the pandemic continues.
