This year Dining at Microsoft, in Redmond, Wash., remodeled its cafés and added new menu items. “The culinary team focused on telling the story behind their Ingredient Revolution on campus to build consciousness about what is being served, the ingredients, how the food is prepared and where it comes from,” says Jodi Smith Westwater, senior director of marketing, communications & advocacy for Compass Group, supporting Microsoft Real Estates & Facilities.
To help tell its story, Dining showcased some of its new menu options at Microsoft’s //oneweek event late this summer. //oneweek focuses on events that introduce key products to employees as well as highlighting some of Microsoft’s employee services and perks. At the Byte of Microsoft section of //oneweek, Dining and Meetings offered more than 28,000 product samples.
In addition, Meetings also debuted its new catering program, OUTTA THE BOX. The new program was developed following customer surveys and focus groups, which pinpointed a need for a boxed lunch solution that offered versatility and convenience. OUTTA THE BOX provides two tiers of service. The standard option features individual and group-sized boxes, while the executive tier offers premium items. All packaging is now 100 percent compostable.
