St. Louis Public Schools has awarded Southwest Foodservice Excellence a $14.5 million one-year contract to provide dining services to the district's 23,500 students.

St. Louis Public Schools has awarded Southwest Foodservice Excellence a $14.5 million one-year contract to provide dining services to the district's 23,500 students, reports St. Louis Business Journal. The contract, which had been held by Chartwells, is "to provide food services to all District schools at a cost not to exceed $14,453,034."

Southwest, based in Scottsdale, AZ, is a K-12 specialist that had 46 contracts last year, mostly with districts in six Southwestern states, including California. Managed volume for fiscal 2012 was $103.6 million.
