Fulton 58 Public Schools in Fulton, Mo., has purchased vending machines to help with staffing shortages, Fulton Sun reports.

Middle and high school students will be able to purchase a variety of Smart Snack-compliant items from the machines during lunch as well as before and after school. The vending machines will free up an employee who normally works in the snack area.

Fulton 58 partnered with an outside company to install the machines and manage their upkeep. The district will receive 10% of the vending machines' sales.

Many school nutrition programs across the country are heading into the new school year short staffed. Some schools have leaned on assistance from volunteers and students to help keep their programs running smoothly.
