Portland Public Schools moves summer feeding outdoors due to extreme heat

Portland Public Schools in Portland, Ore., has moved its summer feeding program outdoors due to extreme heat. 

The district announced on its website that schools would not be offering any programs inside school buildings, including grab-and-go meal service, due to record setting heat in the area. Instead, students will be able to pick up meals outside at 18 different parks throughout the district. 

School officials believe that they will be able to resume grab-and-go feeding inside school buildings this Wednesday. 

As temperatures continue to rise in much of the country, chefs have been coming up with creative ways to stay cool in the kitchen.
