Police look into death of school food administrator who was under investigation

Officials say Silverio Capistran, administrator at Texas-based Brownsville Independent School District, had been on paid leave since Jan. 25.

The Brownsville Police Department is investigating the death of Silverio Capistran, administrator of food and nutrition services at Texas-based Brownsville Independent School District, reports valleycentral.com.

Capistran was found dead in his truck Monday evening, Justice of the Peace Linda Salazar told the website, adding that it appeared he had committed suicide via a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

An autopsy report has been ordered to determine the cause of death.

BISD officials said in a statement that Capistran had been placed on paid administrative leave Jan. 25 due to an ongoing investigation.

Capistran had been employed with BISD since 2000 and had held the role of administrator since 2012.
