New Haven Schools to Self-Op

New Haven (CT) Public Schools has decided to return its foodservice operations to in-house management, terminating its contract with Aramark. The district had originally issued an ROI for a management contract to start next year and had secured three bidders, including Aramark. However, in a unanimous vote of the district’s board of education, it was decided that self-operation was the preferred choice. Aramark, which had managed New Haven Schools food services since 1994, had recently come under fire from labor unions and parent groups. The district has an enrollment of around 20,000.
