N.H. bill would allow leftover school meals to be donated to students in need

Lawmakers in New Hampshire are looking at a bill that would allow schools in the state to donate leftover, uneaten school meals to students in need.

Under HB500, districts would be able to freeze leftover food to create grab-and-go meals for students to eat after school or during weekends. Schools could implement the program on their own or partner with a local nonprofit to help distribute the meals. 

The bill has passed the House and is currently under review by the Senate Education Committee.
