Maine has passed a law that allows schools to give food scraps to pig farmers, Bangor Daily News reports. 

The law states that any individual or institution can donate leftover waste to a swine producer to use as feed, even if they don’t know the producer’s license status. 

Supporters of the bill say it will help schools cut back on food waste while helping local farmers.
