Jill Benza retired from her job as assistant superintendent for business services for the Mesa (AZ) School District at the end of June, ending a 26-year career with what is the state’s largest school district. She is being succeeded by Gerrick Monroe, who was assistant superintendent for the Yuma Union (AZ) High School District. Benza started her career with Mesa Schools in 1981 as a part-time employee and worked her way her way up, being named director of food and nutrition services in 1989. She was named assistant superintendent for support services in 2002 and assistant superintendent for business services in 2003.
