Chartwells K12 will be doubling down on some of its most popular menu items for the upcoming school year.

The foodservice provider released a list of dishes that were a hit with K-12 students over the past year and will continue to show up on its menus in the fall.

Plant-forward options topped the list. Popular meatless meals include Homemade Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese, Spicy Basil Tofu Stir Fry, and a Roasted Potato, Black Bean and Avocado Tostada.

Global-inspired options, including Torta de Jamon and Asian Edamame Salad, were also a hit with young diners.

“We have so much fun creating dishes for students, and it’s so insightful to see what becomes the fan favorites,” said Peter Gilhooly, vice president of culinary for Chartwells K12, in a statement. “You would be amazed by how many kids are willing to try unfamiliar flavors and ingredients or menu items from different cultures. This year, kids will be eating delicious and healthy meals that are fueling their bodies and minds for a successful school day.”

Over the past year, Chartwells K12 has debuted a variety of new concepts for students, including a plant-forward station named Veg Out, a smoothie concept and a global eats program
