July 9—The hottest new restaurant in Stanton, Texas, is the Martin County Hospital café. There were only five restaurants in town before the hospital opened its doors May 1.

All of the businesses stay busy and packed during lunch. The cafeteria is open Monday through Friday. Breakfast is served from 7 to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Two entree options are available each day, along with dessert and a salad bar. The 48-seat dining hall also offers to-go service.

The cafeteria’s patrons includ people who live and work close to the hospital. Linda Gonzales and Vanessa Montez, two friends who work at the Martin County District Clerk’s office, eat at the new cafeteria up to four days a week.
