The Partnership for a Healthier America has launched a Hospital Healthy Food Initiative and is inviting healthcare institutions to join the program. Hospitals that agree to join will make a commitment to  adopt standards for nutrition labeling, healthy food marketing, wellness meal offerings, elimination of deep fat fryers, increases in healthy beverages and increases in fruits and vegetables offered.

Founded in 2010, PHA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit dedicated to brokering meaningful commitments and developing strategies to end childhood obesity. Its initial efforts targeted school meal programs and the availability of fresh, healthy foods in underserved communities. First Lady Michelle Obama is the group's honorary chair.
