Metz launches home delivered medically tailored meal program

Chef2Home is designed to serve health plan members, patients and individuals seeking healthy meal options across the healthcare spectrum.

FM Top 50 firm Metz Culinary Management, Inc. has announced a new service line called Chef2Home by Metz that delivers appealing, medically tailored meals directly to customers in their homes and other gathering places. It serves health plan members, patients and individuals seeking healthy meal options across the healthcare spectrum and reaches those receiving a meal benefit through Medicare, Medicaid, private health plans, hospital and health facilities, nonprofits, emergency relief meal programs, as well as through a self-pay option.

Designed as restaurant-quality meals to help patients manage their overall health and specific medical conditions by a team of chefs and registered dietitians, the offerings are always fresh frozen to lock in flavor, vitamins, and nutrients and customers can select from dozens of medically tailored options across nine meal categories: low sodium, heart-healthy, renal friendly, diabetes-friendly, vegetarian, pureed, kosher, halal and general wellness. The service delivers the options directly to patients managing chronic conditions, those recently discharged from the hospital or those who are frail, elderly, or disabled.

A broad-market contract management firm, Metz generated over 40% of its $405 million revenues last year in the healthcare/senior living markets, a presence this latest initiative is designed enhance as the home delivered medically tailored meal market expands to meet the needs of healthcare organizations and healthcare insurers to manage chronic diseases through improved diet. For Metz, one key is delivering meals that clients find appealing, says Chef2Home Vice President Deborah Origer.
