Eating local, organic, freshly harvested, seasonal, hand-picked vegetables and fruits may seem difficult, but the patients and staff of the Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital are treated daily with just that. The Commonwealth Garden is located adjacent to the building site of the new hospital and after many hours of hard work things are really blossoming.

Ananda and Keith Johnson hosted a June 19 luncheon for classmates and instructors of the University of California Extension Service Master Gardener class at the Commonwealth garden. The Johnson's took part in the five month class which concluded in May.

Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital Executive Chef, Kyle Evans prepared the group luncheon using greens and herbs from the garden.
