The USDA has released its own mobile app dedicated to helping operators plan meals and purchase food.

The Food Buying Guide app allows operators to look up over 2,100 foods commonly served in schools, as well as view recommended serving sizes and meal pattern requirements. Users can also compare foods and create their own favorite foods list.

The app is currently available for Apple users and will later be compatible with Android devices.
