USDA begins feeding program partnership to provide meals for students impacted by COVID-19

The meals will be delivered to students in rural areas who don’t have access to a Summer Food Service Program meal site.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is partnering with the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty (BCHP), McLane Global, PepsiCo and others to provide almost 1 million meals to students in rural schools that have been shuttered due to COVID-19

Currently, BCHP is working with state officials to identify and prioritize students who don’t have access to a Summer Food Service Program meal site and are located where there is an active outbreak of COVID-19. 

In the coming weeks, boxes containing five days worth of shelf-stable, nutritious, individually packaged foods that meet USDA’s summer food requirements will be delivered to those students.
