Meal delivery company Freshly is debuting a new branch of its business aimed to help organizations offer convenient meals to employees, no matter where they’re working from.

The new FreshlyWell platform provides a range of heat-and-eat meals that can be sold on site via smart fridges, micromarkets and cafes, as well as delivered to employees’ homes. Companies can opt to partially or fully subsidize their workers’ meals as well as offer discounts.

Meal options are “nutritionist approved” and can fit a host of dietary needs, says Freshly, whose Purely Plant line of offerings contains no animal products.

"Today's landscape has sparked renewed conversations around wellness, and there's a call for industry organizations to prioritize the wellbeing of their people," Anna Fabrega, Freshly CEO, said in a statement.

Freshly joins a growing roster of third-party companies seeking to provide foodservice to workers in a convenient way that suits the post-pandemic work environment, one in which many workers have received increased flexibility and more remote work options.

Earlier this year, real estate company Vornado announced it was teaming up with third-party platform Sharebite to provide fee-less food delivery to its office employees in New York City, and restaurant delivery company Foodja launched a new arm aimed at delivering meals to office workers.

In some cases, offering new or enhanced food amenities has been a way to entice workers to return to the office more often.

Freshly says its new platform is primed to meet the needs of a variety of organizations, including healthcare systems, senior-living facilities, and colleges and universities.
