Healthy program wins over Milford (Conn.) district

Program provides state funds for district making healthy pledge.

April 3—Milford (Conn.) Public Schools recently voted to participate in the state department of Education's Connecticut Healthy Food and Beverages program, which which will bring in $63,000 from the state.

Previously the school board had allowed fundraising to include selling cupcakes rather than pledge to stay healthy. By joining the state program the school district will no longer sell certain types of cookies, candy or ice cream in school cafeterias.
