BOULDER, Colo.—Middle school students gave the Boulder Valley School District new flavor ideas for the lunch menu at the district's fifth annual "Iron Chef" cooking challenge Wednesday at Casey Middle School.

The cookoff featured six student teams — one from Aspen Creek K-8, one from Monarch K-8, one from Eldorado K-8 and three from Centennial Middle School — that created an entree in an hour-and-a-half.

Along with managers from Boulder Valley Food Services, local food celebrities helped judge, including guest judges from Whole Foods, The Kitchen's Hugo Matheson and Zeal Food for Enthusiasts' Chef Arik Markus.
