As promised, the Midwest's Raydia distribution conglomerate is acquiring another broadliner

B+B Foods Distributors will function as a distinct entity within Raydia's expanding hold, with Scott Isles continue to lead the family-run operation.

Three weeks after changing its name in anticipation of making more acquisitions, the parent of Midwestern distributors Stanz Foodservice and Troyer Foods is delivering on that strategy with the purchase of broadliner and equipment supplier B B Foods Distributors.

Raydia Food Group, formerly Stanz-Troyer Holding Co., did not reveal how much it’s paying for B B or other specifics of the deal. But it noted that the seller, Scott Isles, will remain president of the family-run operation, reporting to Raydia CEO Moe Alkamade.

The acquisition is consistent with Raydia’s announced plan to amass a portfolio of Midwestern distributors without disrupting their relations with customers or otherwise upending their operating style.

“The goal of our platform is to invest in and help fuel growth for other local food distribution companies that join the Raydia family while enabling them to retain their individual culture and heritage,” Alkamade said in a statement.

B B has annual sales of $33 million and employs about 60 people, according to Raydia. Alkamade said the acquired company is strongest in southwest Indiana and along the state’s border with Illinois, making it a good complement to its new sister operations.

Isles said the merger of his family’s firm into Raydia will facilitate B B’s acquisition of new accounts in the restaurant market, school foodservice and the convenience-store business.
